Stephen has over 25 years experience working with technology-based businesses, ranging from start-ups to global companies. He is a consultant who specialises in delivering measurable results. Projects he has worked on have generated quantifiable bottom-line benefits worth over $100 million.
He has worked with companies across a wide range of sectors including: aerospace & defence, automotive, computers, electronics, industrial, government, semiconductors, software, telecommunications and transport. His experience covers:
• Development of business and operations strategy;
• Driving step-change improvements in operational performance;
• Turning round major projects;
• Setting up new ventures and establishing partnerships.
Prior to founding OMR, Stephen worked for seven years with Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath (PRTM) – the world leader in helping technology-based companies achieve breakthrough results. Prior to joining PRTM, he spent ten years with Hewlett-Packard and five years with GEC-Marconi. At Hewlett-Packard he led multi-national research teams at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories, and was R&D Business Development Manager for Hewlett-Packard’s Medical Products Group, reporting directly to the worldwide head of R&D.
Stephen has been working with the Saïd Business School since 2003 as an Associate Fellow and Sector Consultant. He mentors students and alumni who want to start new businesses and has taught on the MBA Operations Management and Entrepreneurship Project core courses. He is a member of the Oxford Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (OxCEI) and the School’s Operations Management Academic Area.
Stephen is a Senior Visiting Researcher at the Global Entrepreneurship Research Centre at Zhejiang University and has been a guest lecturer at the London Business School, Warwick Business School and Warwick University’s Engineering Management Centre.
Stephen has an MA in Mathematics from Cambridge University and an MBA from the London Business School.
